Pastoral Council

VISION

Christ the King Parish is a growing faith community of love, joy, discipleship and evangelization that brings people into a personal encounter with Jesus Christ.

MISSION

Come encounter Christ
Joyfully share His love
Go make disciples

The Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body, of fully initiated practicing members of the parish. Our task is to assist the pastor and other parish leadership for the parish’s growth in mission, formation and as a community of faith. It strives to discern in a co-responsible manner the movement of the Holy Spirit among God’s people in the parish. Our job is to consider all those things that support the pastoral life and works of Christ the King parish; pray about and consider them; and propose strategies to address them. It is essential that Council meetings occur in the context of prayer and openness to the Holy Spirit, so that at all times the common good will prevail. The process for the Pastoral Council to arrive at conclusions is one of discerning where the Holy Spirit is calling the faith community to achieve the Great Commission.  Our main role is uncovering, through prayer and discernment, God’s will for our parish.

Specifically, the Parish Pastoral Council’s purpose is to enhance the process of:

  • strategic, longer term pastoral planning focused on formation, mission and building the community of faith (setting goals for 3-5 years that will help achieve the vision)
  • propose pastoral programs that support the planning objectives
  • improving pastoral services
  • evaluating the pastoral effectiveness of various programs and services

The Pastoral Council for Christ the King has been meeting monthly since November 2018, and is in the process of completing a 3-year Pastoral Plan which will focus the parish efforts on the five systems of Worship, Service, Evangelization, Discipleship, and Fellowship. This involves making recommendations on priorities for the parish to focus on that will help support achievement of our vision and mission, and create a joyful environment for existing and new parishioners to encounter Christ in a personal and meaningful way.
